Biography

Born in Saarlouis on the German-French border, she is the daughter of a tailor and granddaughter of a china painter. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1953. Her artistic career started with painting, later discovered textile as a new media. Since 1984 her interest turned to miniature hand and machine embroidery. Those works are vary from childhood memories of tales her father told her, to serious statements and comments on social and political events. Her naive, idyllic and brightly colored works are reminiscent of the medieval iconography. These works are widely published in Canada and abroad, and are represented in private collections, around the world. She is regularly participating in invitational, juried exhibitions in Canada, USA, Japan and Western Europe. Since 1987 she has had solo exhibitions in Canada and the USA. She is considered one of the top 100 fibre artists in North America as per "The American Society of Fibre Artists"
